On 01 December 2025, the Hong Kong SAR Government announced its proposed updates to the safety standards (the Standards) for toys and children’s products in Schedules 1 and 2 respectively to the “Toys and Children’s Products Safety Ordinance (Cap. 424)” (the Ordinance).
Such updates are to implement up-to-date safety standards promulgated by the relevant reputable standardisation bodies for toys and children’s products (Schedule 2 products).
Reasons for the Updates
The Hong Kong Government keeps in view any updates or amendments to the Standards to apply up-to-date and operative versions of the standards to toys and Schedule 2 products supplied in Hong Kong.
It has come to the Government’s attention that, as at the end of May 2025, several specified safety standards for toys and for four classes of Schedule 2 products have been updated or amended.
