Beware of "Toxic" Toys: CCC Testing Ensures Safety

Currently, "stress ball toys" have gained popularity in the market due to their soft, cute designs and squeezable features, attracting many children and young people. However, their safety issues have increasingly drawn consumers' attention. Some substandard "stress ball toys" pose clear health risks. In China, "stress ball toys" must undergo testing by designated institutions and bear the China Compulsory Certification (CCC) mark before they can be sold in the domestic market.

Market inspections have revealed that some "stress ball toys" exceed the allowable limits for total volatile organic compounds, including formaldehyde, toluene, and xylene. Additionally, some of these toys have been found to contain phthalates—commonly known as plasticisers—exceeding national standards. Formaldehyde and toluene may cause severe damage to the respiratory and immune systems, especially in growing children. Phthalate plasticisers are known for their reproductive toxicity. According to the national toy safety standard GB 6675, the content of phthalates in toys must not exceed 0.1%.
