The requirements from EN 14682:2014 (Safety of children's clothing — Cords and drawstrings

It is described as a “complete revision of the requirements for cords” in the Forward of the amended EN 71.

These requirements, according to subclause 5.4 of the amended EN 71, are intended to prevent the strangulation hazard posed by drawstrings and to minimize the potential for entrapment of cords attached to disguise costumes.

Subclause 5.4.2 and 5.4.3 specifies requirements for cords and chains in toys intended for children under 18 months, and for those over 18 months but under 36 months respectively.
